History of National Wellness Month
August has been designated as National Wellness Month, thanks to the work of Love Live Spa. The primary goal was to strengthen the bonds and connections within the wellness business while encouraging everyone to prioritize their self-care practices.
These days, being mentally sound is just as important as being physically healthy. In addition to making time for physical activity, unwinding pursuits, and eating a balanced diet, one should practice stress reduction, mindfulness, and positivity-focused thinking.
Here are some ideas in lieu of National Wellness Month, which will improve your mood and lead to a happier, more fulfilling life:
- Get into exercise. You might be surprised to learn how much a half-hour workout can accomplish for your general health. It can elevate mood, increase energy levels, strengthen social bonds, boost focus, and reduce your chance of long-term chronic illnesses.
- Obtain adequate rest. A healthy body and mind depend heavily on getting enough sleep. Getting good sleep makes you feel happier and less stressed. In addition, it helps maintain a healthy weight, replenishes energy, improves mental clarity, and many other benefits. Before going to bed, try limiting your exposure to blue light from electronics like computers and phones, as they can interfere with your ability to fall asleep.
- Consume a balanced diet and drink plenty of water. Eating healthily lowers the risk of obesity and various diseases, while also enhancing one’s mental well-being. Drinking enough water is another habit to develop because it is crucial to our overall health. It eliminates toxins, regulates body temperature, aids in absorbing vitamins, minerals and nutrients from food, and more.
- Enjoy nature. The sun’s splendor, the sound of relaxing waves, the scent of newly-cut grass, and the lake’s soft air… such things readily calm us down and improve our mood. There’s also scientific evidence that grounding does wonders for our health. Grounding can be done by going barefoot on grass, or by walking on the sand by the beach.
- Be grateful and focus on the positive side of life. Usually, it’s the little things that we take for granted that make us happy. Perform small acts of kindness for those around you without expecting anything in return. You’ll feel the shift of your gloomy emotions fade away. There will always be obstacles but learn to reframe negative thoughts into positive ones. This will help brighten your mindset and enhance your overall well-being.
- Take a social media detox and spend more time with family and friends. Our mental and emotional well-being can suffer from being overly dependent on social media, since it increases our vulnerability to loneliness and worry. A study that was conducted revealed that reducing social media use improves mental health and lessens depressive symptoms. Building solid relationships with our family and friends is a great way to ground ourselves and get through difficult times. We get most of our sense of security and support from our family and friends.
Self-love and self-care may vary for each person, but the common thread is that empowering ourselves through self-nurturing is the path to fulfillment and happiness.
